The presbytery is accessed by a staircase consisting of seven steps in white marble with a black marble balustrade.
In the center, there is the modern altar, a work carried out after the Second Vatican Council, it is composed of a marble table with the precious seventeenth-century silver frontal in the center of which is the silver urn containing the remains of St. Alexander martyr. by the goldsmith Pietro Roberti and donated by the city council in 1702
